Hawkins discusses her sources of inspiration, choreographic process, qualities she seeks in dancers, and ways in which she seeks to communicate with the audience. She introduces video excerpts of her works All talk, no action and Deviation is constant, both recorded at the Sixth Greater Hartford Festival of Jazz in Hartford, Conn., in July 1997.
