This thesis is intended as a contribution to the discussion of education and democracy. The study is divided into three parts a) one consisting of a discussion of the concept of the public and related questions of democracy, one b) where different national curricula are examined from that point of view, and one c) where the preconditions for the organization of teachings as a public discourse is discussed with special reference to the media.
